About the CSU Student Research Competition
The CSU Student Research Competition is held each year in May to promote excellence in undergraduate and graduate scholarly research and creative activity by recognizing outstanding student accomplishments throughout the 23 campuses of the CSU system. The 26th Annual CSU Student Research Competition will be held May 4th and 5th, 2012 at CSU Long Beach.
ELIGIBILITY: Students currently enrolled, as well as alumni/alumnae who receive(d) their degrees in spring, summer or fall of 2011. Research may be complete or preliminary with final findings included.
DEADLINE: CSUMB's Office of Grants & Contracts is accepting applications for the 26th Annual (2012) CSU Student Research Competition until February 23rd, 2012, by 5PM.

Congratulations to CSUMB's Three Second Place Award Winners in 2011!
The following students competed and won 2nd place prizes at the CSU Student Research Competition in May, 2011. Pictured left to right: Kevin Johnson, Erin Stanfield, Edgar Calcanas.

Kevin Johnson, Biology, won second place with his presentation on "A Comparison of Cyanobacterial Abundance and Potential Toxicity in Two California Coastal Lakes". His advising faculty is Dr. Aparna Sreenivasan.
Erin Stanfield, Coastal Watershed Science & Policy, won second place with her presentation on the "Presence and Toxicity of Freshwater Cyanobacteria in Pinto Lake, Monterey Bay Area, California". Her advising faculty is Dr. Aparna Sreenivasan.
Edgar Calcanas, Computer Science and Information Technology, won second place for his presentation on the "Performance Analysis of a Delay Tolerant Routing Protocol". His advising faculty is Dr. Sathya Narayanan.
