Training and Workshops
The Office of Grants & Contracts is dedicated to assisting you with training in the activities our office administers. Following are the training topics provided by Grants & Contracts:
- InfoEd (eRA): Grant funding opportunity search and researcher profile management
- CSU Research Competitions: Student Research Competition & Faculty Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity (FRSCA)
- Grant Workshops: For faculty and staff researchers at CSUMB
- Human Subject Research Protections: Required if conducting human subject research
- Responsible Conduct of Research: Required for NSF and NIH funded projects

InfoEd Electronic Research Administration (eRA)
InfoEd is CSUMB's electronic research administration (eRA) web-based application for grant funding opportunity searches, alert services, user profile management, and proposal and award tracking. To learn more about InfoEd and how to use it, navigate to our InfoEd (eRA) page.
InfoEd Open Forum
InfoEd in-person training is available once a month at the InfoEd Open Forum. InfoEd Open Forum is an open, drop-in workshop held monthly to support Principal Investigators and their support staff using InfoEd. Topic covered include:
- Logging in and updating your profile;
- Adding support staff (delegates);
- Checking deliverables (technical reports) notices;
- Keyword searching and alert profiles;
- Open question and answer.

CSU Student Research and Faculty Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity Awards
In support of the CSU Student Research Competition (SRC) and the CSU Faculty Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity (FRSCA) awards, Grants & Contracts coordinates with members of the Committee for Postgraduate Studies & Research to review applicant proposals and supporting documents.

Externally Funded Grant Workshops
In conjunction with the Center for Teaching, Learning & Assessment, Grants & Contracts conducts annual workshops in the basics of grant searching, development and management. Typical workshops topics include:

Finding Funding: How to search for and identify grants you are eligible for as a CSUMB Principal Investigator.

Proposal Elements: Best practices and pitfalls to avoid in developing a proposal.

Budget Development: Critical requirements to developing a proposal budget.
At the conclusion of each training session, the training material will be posted in the Searching for Funds, Pre-award: Proposal Development and Post-award: Managing Your Funds sections of this website.

Human Subjects in Research Protections
CSUMB requires all researchers who wish to conduct research involving human subjects to be certified in human subjects protections and submit documentation of training certification with any/all applications to conduct human subject research.
To assist researchers with compliance, CSUMB subscribes to the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) on-line training program. Any researcher affiliated with CSUMB may complete CITI Program training. A completion report will automatically be sent to the Office of Grants & Contracts when you are finished.

Responsible Conduct of Research
All researchers (faculty, staff and students) involved in projects or programs funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) must be certified in research misconduct and submit documentation of training certification with any/all grant applications to NSF.
To assist researchers with compliance, CSUMB subscribes to the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) on-line training program. Any researcher affiliated with CSUMB may complete CITI Program training. Submit a copy of your completion report, via paper or email, to the Office of Grants & Contracts when you are finished.
